Project objectives
The customer had well-defined needs for its website, mainly related to the online visibility of its brand and the management of interactions with its customers. The project objectives were as follows:
- Quick-to-launch showcase site: The customer wanted a showcase site that could be launched quickly, while faithfully reflecting the values and identity of its brand. The aim was to create a site that was both aesthetically pleasing and functional, highlighting the brand's key elements (history, values, products, etc.), while being optimized for rapid deployment.
- Contact form: Another key requirement was the implementation of a simple yet effective contact form. This form had to enable visitors to easily contact the company for information requests, collaborations or any other query.
- Website statistics: The customer wanted to be able to track the performance of his website. This included the installation of analysis tools to track the number of visits, user behavior, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Pro space for opticians: The customer needed a dedicated space for optical professionals. This space, accessible only after authentication, was to include a catalog of the various product collections offered by the brand.
Process
The project was developed in several stages, each crucial to ensuring quality and customer satisfaction:
Step 1: Gathering customer requirements
The process began with a series of meetings to fully understand the customer's expectations. I took the time to discuss every aspect of the project in detail, listening carefully to specific needs, long-term objectives, and design and functionality preferences. These discussions helped clarify project priorities and establish a clear roadmap.
Step 2: Production of a Figma model
Once I had a clear understanding of the customer's needs, I produced a mock-up on Figma, scrupulously respecting the brand's graphic charter. This stage enabled the customer to visualize the site before development began, to validate aesthetic and ergonomic choices, and to make modifications if necessary. This phase is crucial to ensure that the final design perfectly meets expectations.
Step 3: WordPress site development
Once the mock-up had been validated, I began developing the site using WordPress. WordPress was chosen for its flexibility, robustness and ease of future content updates. I also developed a bespoke CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) system for managing the Espace Pro, enabling easy and intuitive management of product catalogs by the customer.
Final step: SEO and fine-tuning
The final phase involved optimizing the site for SEO to ensure better visibility on search engines. This included optimizing tags, improving site loading speed, and integrating performance tracking tools. Final details, such as design or functionality adjustments, were carried out in close collaboration with the client, ensuring that every aspect of the site lived up to their expectations.
Throughout this process, I maintained constant communication with the customer. Each step was validated by the customer before moving on to the next, ensuring that the project remained aligned with their needs and expectations.
Technical Information
The site was developed in WordPress, with a particular emphasis on customization to meet the customer's specific needs. Here are the main technical features of the project:
Custom plugin development: To meet the customer's specific requirements, I developed a custom plugin in PHP, SCSS, and JavaScript. In particular, this plugin manages the Espace Pro for opticians, with a CRUD system for managing the product catalog, orders and interactions with opticians.
Complete management of hosting and related services: In addition to developing the site, I took charge of hosting, purchasing and managing the domain name, and configuring the customer's professional e-mail accounts. This made it possible to offer a complete, turnkey solution, where the customer didn't have to worry about the technical aspects of site management.
WordPress maintenance: After going live, I continued to provide maintenance services to ensure that the site remained secure, up to date and performing well. This included regular updates to WordPress, plugins, and frequent site backups.
This technical approach has resulted in a high-performance, secure website that is perfectly adapted to the customer's needs, while guaranteeing simplified management and effective long-term maintenance.
